I agree that the management of some zoos, which view animals only as commercial means, is a problem. However, zoos can be improved for the true happiness of animals. As you mentioned, zoos play an important role in the conservation, reproducing rare or endangered species and providing treatment and protection for injured animals. Claiming that zoos only seek to profit from animals is a dismissive and overindulgence of the zoo's positive function.
It is especially hard to agree that zoos are just places of undue stress on animals. The idea that zoos are an uncomfortable environment for animals is biased. Zoo animals have a longer average life expectancy than those living in nature. Animals that stand trembling and sleep in preparation for predators' attacks in nature, often lie comfortably in a safe place and sleep for a long time in the zoo. Zoo officials are constantly trying to create the best breeding conditions for animals.

Rather than abolishing the zoo system, it would be better if we think of how to create the best environment for animals, communicate in the right way, and find a desirable way to operate it. In other words, what is needed most in the current situation is a change in people's attitude. If managers do not regard zoos as commercial means and adhere to the rules of breeding facilities, zoos can prevent animals from suffering or escaping from poor conditions. In addition, if visitors stop touching the animals and listen to the zookeepers' explanations, it will be a zoo where animals can enjoy the experience with less stress.
Therefore, I think we human should maintain the zoo system, but try to ensure that the zoo works effectively as a means for humans and animals to coexist and as a venue for the interaction of various species.
