You said zoos provide safe places for animals, but they are not. According to statistics, 132 international endangered species, including Jaguar and snow leopard, were killed Among them, only 12 animals died of old age, while the rest died from diseases such as bacterial infections. This means that the zoo is not taking good care of the animals. And you said that zoos have a great educational effect as an educational place, that is also wrong. What do children think when they see a zookeeper handling animals? Perhaps children see it and think that it is natural for humans to rule animals. Then, the children have a human-centered way of thinking when they grow up.

I'm very sorry about the dead animals you mentioned. Sometimes tragic events such as those you mention happen, but it is not right to generalize that all zoos are not providing safety for animals. And these problems can be solved in many ways by increasing the welfare of zoos. Also, Will it be right that lives of many animals that have been preserved and will be saved by zoos are ignored by the death of some animals in a transitional period? Furthermore, It is just your own idea with no evidence that children will develop human-centered thinking when they see the zookeeper handling animals. The survey is specified in my writting that proves the fact that after visiting the zoo, more people gained animal-related knowledge and said they would act directly for biodiversity. Children will not have human-centered thinking, but will think about human-oriented and human-striving conservation of biodiversity and environment.

(1820이희주)I think that your opinion was very logical and reasonable. However, I have a different opinion. You said “No matter how much you get information about animals from books or screens, you won't be able to compare it to seeing animals actually running around.” I agree that actually seeing them can make a deep impression in educational effectiveness. But for children who are the main of education, I think it's hard to say that animals are really educational. Children get new knowledges in zoos, but they also see animals behaving strangely, mentally ill, and aggressive behavior due to stress. I wonder if the zoo that considers only visual knowledge is educationally beneficial for children. So I think it's wrong to maintain the zoo system with only visual knowledge, even with other educational measures such as VR devices or documentaries.
