I think game addiction should be classified as a disease, too. Your personal experience with game addiction and brain modification allows me to think deeply about game addiction. But your title, which game is no longer a hobby, may be misleading. Because game addiction isn't the game itself, but it's a negative view of excessive use.

[1525 전하은]I accept your opinion that game addiction can have an negative effect on people's health and normal life. Despite the concession, I suggest that your second supporting for your opinion has a fallacy. You proposed that for adolescents, being addicted to games can bring academic stress or interpersonal conflict. But what you have missed is that playing games can be an instrumentality to decrease academic stress. People play games because it can release the stress which they had during their daily life and it is the easiest stress reduction method which people in modern times can approach in a short and limited amount of time given to them. Also, being addicted to games does not effect the ability to interact with others, which can be leaded to a conclusion that game addiction does not create interpersonal conflict to game addicts. By these reasons, I rebut to your arguement that game addiction should be treated as a disease.

1821 장혜원 I also thought game addiction should be classified as a disease and could sympathize with taking your cousin for example. My cousin also often plays computer games unlike when he was young, so I can barely remember the last time I had a solid conversation with him. Also, because he plays game too much, he often has conflict with his mother. Just as we can see the negative effects of playing games around us, game addiction causes bad results in our lives. The game itself will not destroy an individual's social capacity, but if addiction results in reduceing time spent with others, it will surely make him/her feel socially isolated. And to add to your opinion, a University of Iowa study shows that game addiction exacerbates symptoms of other mental disorders. Also, physically, there are neck disks, lack of sleep, and lack of physical activity. For these reasons, I believe that game addiction should be classified as a disease.
