I also think gaming is one of popular cultures in this era and I don't think this is wrong. However, I think it is different from culture or relaxation that a person's life is unable to live properly due to games. Game addiction makes it difficult for people to live socially, mentally and physically healthy. It can even destroy interpersonal relationships such as family relationships and make the addicted people feel socially isolated. Thus, gaming affects negatively on addicted people's brain. A research conducted by Dr. C. Shawn Green of the University of Wisconsin concluded, 'video games can change your brain'. Second of all, it is true that classification of game addiciton as a disease might bring crash in gaming industry. Although I realize the risk, I feel that the treatment and prevention of game addiction will bring more benefits eventaully. As for the last, the reason why the criteria for game addiction is ambiguous is that the symptoms and extent of game addiction vary from person to person. That is because it is relative, not absolute. I think game addiction should take a different approach from physical illness. Since game addiction is a disease that accompanies mental, physical and mental problems, it is difficult to set the correct standard in either aspect. That's why I think we need a diagnosis that focuses on individuals rather than on the exact criteria. This is why I think game addiction should be classified as a disease and if you have any other opinion, let me know.
